The Curragh Racecourse -- usually referred to as simply the Curragh -- is one of Ireland's most important Thoroughbred racecourses. It is situated on the Curragh plain in County Kildare, between the towns of Newbridge  and Kildare. The name "Curragh" comes from the Irish language word Cuirreach, meaning "place of the running horse". The first Derby was held in 1866, and in 1868 the Curragh was officially declared a horse racing and training facility by act of parliament. If you fancy a nice day out at the races this is the place to be, check out the schedule and get your best dress ready if you plan to head to a derby. The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Weekend is a three-day festival on the 24th, 25th and 26th of June 2022.
