Not a great place to sunbath. More of a place to go see the famous surf spot and take a walk.

World famous surf location hosts competitions with some of the largest waves in the world. Cannot see from the beach, but the walk along the beach is beautiful.

If you are a surfer - you know this place. "Chasing Mavericks". It's a gorgeous walk to the beach with amazing scenery. Dogs love to play here. open sunup to sunset

Mavericks Beach at Pillar Point near Half Moon Bay, CA is the site of the annual big wave surfing competition called Maverick’s. The big wave surf area is located a quarter-mile offshore from the bluff top viewing areas outside the Air Force military installation on Pillar Point. A huge white ball marks this spot on the bluff from miles away. The conditions under the water at Mavericks create a unique big break when large winter swells roll in. The competition is held when and if conditions occur between November and March.

look out in the distance to see if Mavericks is breaking- this spot is famous for HUGE waves and an annual surf contest. For the young ones, play at "crab rock"
