Park in one of 3 car parks and buy a ticket in the cafe to take the steep cliff steps down to the island and climb the lighthouse as part of a guided tour when it’s open. Visit the RSPB’s Ellin's Tower (free entry) for views over the cliffs and the chance to see guillemots, razorbills, puffins, kittiwake, fulmar and gulls. NOTE: for both Ellin’s Tower and the lighthouse, please carefully supervise children and take care near the cliff edges as there are no fences.

The light house is a lovely place to visit, the tour gives you an insight into the life of a light house keeper. Fabulous views, cafe and walks through heather headland. Great climbing wall for serious climbers

South Stack, the Anglesey lighthouse, perches on its own tiny island off the far west coast of the island. Just getting there is a real adventure (and probably not a good idea if you suffer from vertigo). It's reached via 400 steps in the cliffside and a bridge high above the roaring waves. Visitors can tour the engine room and then climb the narrow stairs right to the top for epic views out to sea. The birdwatching all around here is spectacular; you’ll soon be playing the time-honoured game of spot-the-puffin. If you're really lucky, you might even see one of the rare breeding pairs of choughs among the colonies of guillemots and razorbills clinging to the cliffs.

Great walks from here up to Holyhead mountain. Stop at the Cafe before you park at the end and take a walk down to the RSPB hide. Need a head for heights to climb up inside the light house, also lots of steps down to the bridge to get accross
