Cherng Doi restaurant serves delicious Lanna style Thai food that is incredibly cheap. It's just off Nimmanhaemin Rd in a no name soi (opposite the pink Thai Government Savings Bank on Nimman). Superb roast chicken (Kai Yang), roast pork (moo tod) and spicy cucumber salad (somtaam tang). Food here is so scrumptious and cheap, but is now quite popular.

Kai Yang Cherng Doi : Spicy papaya salad & grill chicken perfect match with sticky rice, one of the most famous local restaurant on this road. Recommend for lunch or dinner. (Kai: Chicken/ Yang: Grill/ Cherng Doi: Foothill)

This place is one of my favorite Northern Thai restaurants. The chicken is perfectly roasted and crispy on the outside perfectly matched with fresh warm sticky rice. They have pictures on the menu so it is easy to see what your dish will look like which I like because most restaurants don't do that and it can be daunting for someone who is trying northern cuisine for the first time. I really recommend everyone to try this place out it is where I bring all my friends that have just arrived to Thailand. It can be quite busy on the weekends so I recommend coming on the weekdays or expect a wait!
