Fish is a big part of Kenyan culture, and yet it’s missed off many nyama choma lists. Mama Oliech offers the best seafood choma in Nairobi, sourcing their catch fresh from Lake Victoria. It’s a welcoming place with a mix of plastic and wooden chairs and tables. You pick your own seasoning and choose from a side of kale or spinach with your fish. Mark Zuckerberg came here on his trip to Kenya in 2016!

It's not the prettiest place but their food is DELICIOUS. I highly recommend trying their whole fish (dry) with ugali, sukuma wiki and kunde - mmmh!

Football lovers may know of Denise Oliech, the famed Kenyan football striker who was also known as ‘’the menace’’. This local restaurant is owned by his mother. Be prepared to be underwhelmed when you first arrive. However if you are looking for a truly Kenyan experience of fried fish with ugali, you may want to try it out.

A local favourite for Ugali (maize meal) and fresh fish.
