Board the Thames Clippers at lots of "bus / boat stops" along the river and see the sights from the Thames... Closest boat stop is at Woolwich, 15min away by train.

Great scenic ride on the river. Take it to the last stop to Westminster pier to see London's major attractions from the water. Great fun during the day and also by night time.

Try a boat down the river! You can use an oyster card on it, we took it from Vauxhall to greenwich and then had a good lunch at the Trafalgar Pub, right on the river, a good way of seeing parts of London from the river.

Another good alternative to expensive sightseeing trips is to take the Thames Clipper transport ferry along the river. The boat route starts at Greenwich and ends at Westminster (Big Ben/London Eye). It passes beneath Tower Bridge and goes past the Shard and the Tower Of London, as well as the Victorian Thameside warehouses of East London.
