Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe. It is around 14,600 sq km in area. It lies in the northwest of the country, just off the main road between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. The nearest town is Dete.

It is located in the northwest corner of the country, about one hour south of the Victoria Falls. It boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded. The elephants of Hwange are world famous and the Park’s elephant population is one of the largest in the world. How to Get There •By Road Many tour operators offer shuttle services from Victoria Falls town and Victoria Falls International Airport to Hwange Main Camp (approximately 1 hour).
