The Alewife Station is the northwest terminus of the Red Line. You can get there by walking on the Alewife Greenway to it's intersection with the Minuteman bikeway. Head down Michael street and take a right when you get on the greenway. Cross Broadway and walk on the path as it goes next to the Brook. Cross Mass Ave and find the path on the other side -- follow it until it becomes a boardwalk and turns to the right. At the end of the boardwalk turn left on the Minuteman ... you'll see the Alewife Station in front of you soon!
