Fall Hours, Sept 3-Dec 1, 2019 Extended holiday hours begin on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019. The 2019 grand-opening for the holidays will be on Saturday, December 7th. Our holiday season will close on Sunday, December 29th 2019. This is an amazing story of a family. The outdoor garden is available for weddings. The historic Barker Mansion lives as a monument of industry, charity, and turn-of-the-century life in Michigan City, highlighting the legacy of the Barker family through interpretive tours and special programs for kids and adults. Browse our site to learn more about venue rentals, scout sleepovers, and more. Guided Mansion Tours Tuesday through Saturday at 1 p.m. CST $8/adult & $5/youth or senior Self-Guided Mansion Tours Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. CST, with last entry at 2:30 p.m. $8/adult & $5/youth or senior During Fall hours the mansion will be closed on Sundays and Mondays for upkeep. Open hours will expand after December 1st. The mansion can be viewed during these tour times only, and we cannot accept early arrivals earlier than fifteen minutes prior to tour start. If the door is locked, simply ring the bell and we’ll let you in. CHRISTMAS Celebrate the holidays with us in the decorated mansion. Each year, local non-profit groups and volunteers deck the halls with elegant Christmas décor appropriate to the Barker's time period. This means you will not experience the glittery and plastic decorations of today; the decorations will be more natural and muted in appearance. Special events including tours, musical performances, kids' crafts, and sweet treats are part of the season.If you wish to volunteer for the holiday season, learn more here.

UNDER RENOVATION - Temporarily Closed 35,000 sq ft Barker family mansion was built in 1857 and expanded in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. The Barkers owned the Haskell & Barker (freight train) Car Company which eventually became part of Pullman Standard in 1922. Located a couple of blocks northwest of Your Art Loft, this architectural gem has undergone extensive rehabilitation during the pandemic so please check their website to be certain they are open for visits and tours.
