This is not a museum; rather an educational center. A green building , off the grid, with a fun nature-oriented shop. Easy hikes on the 80 acre site, including down to perennial LynxCreek, and a lovely Discovery Garden with a section for kids play. Close to Lynx Lake which has trails of its own.

A special place for nature lovers. Small gift shop. Lovely trails with many events throughout the year such as outdoor Shakespeare, halloween events for the kids, summer camps, interactive educational demonstrations, guided hikes, etc. Also includes a small playground. Be sure and check out their website/calendar of events.

The Highlands Center for Natural History has a natural playground for the kids, educational exhibits on Saturdays, a giftshop featuring nature oriented books and gifts, an accessible paved hiking trail, and access to the several longer USFS hiking trails. It is less than 20 minutes to the cabin, so a great quick adventure.
