On this tiny rocky island and at the top is the Byzantine church of Pantokrator, it is of the 11th century and is surrounded by dense vegetation. It is the first characteristic landscape that every new visitor sees when approaching Corfu airport, and is located in the geographical center of the island, very close to the city, between the Kanoni peninsula, Perama and Benitses. It is easy to visit since from the beach below Kanoni there are several small boats that can take you, but due to the fact that the church of the Pantocrator is a monastery, visits are typically only allowed on August 6th.

Approximately 28 minutes by walk, 15 minutes by the blue bus public transportation (pick up from the Mon-Repos entry) or 9 minutes via a vehicle one can visit the iconic place of the small island of Pontikonisi. Pontikonisi is placed in the middle of the sea and it is connected to a small port at Vlacherna Monastery. From the small port visitors can get a taxi boat and visit the XII Century church of Pantokratora which is placed in top of the hill of the Pontikonisi island.
