"Como from Prehistory to Middle Age".... The museum is located in Palazzo Giovio and it shows the history of Como, form prehistory to Middle Age. The museum path is always up-to-date, showing new archeological finds in the area. Besides that, here we can find a section with Egyptian, Greek, and Magna Grecia finds, bronze statuettes and gems. Hours Sunday November 1, special opening 9.30am to 6pm November hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm Close on Mondays, December 8, 25 and 26, January 1 Admission Adults 4 Euro. Free first Sunday of every month.

This fine museum is also housed within a former palace and is also located on the Piazza Medaglie where the Archaeological Museum is situated. The historical museum of Giuseppe Garibaldi has a series of lavishly decorated rooms that have been restored to show traditional living from various eras in Italy. Furthermore the museum contains a plethora of artefacts such as furniture, lace and clothing from Como and the surrounding region. This collection and restored rooms are simply fantastic and together with the Archaeological Museum paint a fine picture of Como.

The Archaeological Museum exhibits artifact, from local excavations, from the Roman era to the Paleolithic . Completing the exhibition, a rich lapidary and a section dedicated to the nineteenth collecting , including an Egyptian collection. The museum is also in charge of the archeobiology's laboratory , dedicated to the study of plants, animals and human remains' finds from archaeological excavations. The Historical Museum is divided into several sections: Renaissance, Contemporary History, Ethnography and Fine Art Gallery.

Il Risorgimento e la storia contemporanea . Sito in Palazzo Olginati, dove, come ricorda la lapide murata sulla facciata, soggiornò Garibaldi nel 1866, il museo ospita numerosi cimeli dedicati ai moti Risorgimentali del 1848-49, del 1859 e delle guerre del ’900, oltre a una sezione etnografica. .
