Estes Park is the perfect place for a day trip, about an hour and a half from the cabin, and the drive is full of beautiful scenery with stops in quaint mountain towns! It’s known as a base for the Rocky Mountain National Park, home to wildlife including elk and bears, plus miles of trails.

This place is special for its majesty! Family friendly! Enter Rocky Mountain National Park, see an original taffy shop, visit the Stanley Hotel for a tour. The YMCA could entertain you for days.

Estes park is a quaint town at the entrance to RMNP. Lots of fun shops of all sorts many of them are unique. Great food, many times you’ll see elk wandering around Lake Estes. Several times a year there’s a festival of some kind held up there in the big park. Rocky Mountain national Park is a must see! Many places to drive and sightsee with lookouts etc. good hikes are located in several areas I highly recommend going around Bear Lake and the trails that offshoot from there for several miles. The visitor center, at the highest point in the park, is at the very top of Trail Ridge Road and is open memorial day through Labor Day

Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Also an adorable town. You might get caught in a local traffic jam caused by the resident elk.
