All of the Lake Merritt is amazing! Check out the boat rentals, or Japanese gardens! Several restaurants around the lake to enjoy a delicious meal after a stroll around the lake!

Inside a typical botanical garden is a not-so-typical bonsai garden. Often there are passionate volunteers on-site who you can ask all the questions that can come from these fruiting and flowering tiny giants. This is a mid-day activity, as it is often close early morning and evenings.

The Bonsai Gardens recently gained museum status! The largest tree is 800 years old and the oldest is 1,600! They have limited hours- usually only until 3p on certain days so be sure to check online. Google or other Search- Lake Merritt Bonsai Gardens
