A 10 minute drive to Kearsney Abbey. Take a portable BBQ and enjoy a lunch in the park! Feed the ducks, kick a ball and eat an ice cream! A large play park for the children and completely free entry! Lovely peaceful walks through Russel Gardens which is just across the road.

You can walk to this park in under 15 minutes- and totally off- road as well! This is a most popular park that has recently had over £ 3 million of lottery money spent! It has a tea room, two play grounds, gardens, abbey ruins, a river, lakes, bbq area, refreshments, a paddling area & you might spot a kingfisher! Dogs are welcome too. You could make a long time of it or just quickly pop down for an hour.

The Kearsney mansion was built in the 1820s by Lord John Minet Fector, a wealthy merchant and banker who loved the natural surroundings so much that he bought 90 acres of land here. Though Lord Fector never lived to see the completion of the estate, his son John continued his father’s wish and completed the building of the “abbey” by hiring the top architects of the time to finish the job.
