A guide to registering your property to host short term rentals
Under the New South Wales Government's Short Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Regulations, all properties in NSW must be registered on the STRA Register to host on Airbnb.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to register.

Add your property to the NSW Government STRA Register

To add your property to the NSW STRA Register, follow the below steps:

1. Visit the NSW Government Planning Portal
2. Create an account on the Portal or log in to complete the registration form. You may log in using your Service NSW account.
3. Pay the registration fee of $65 and submit your application.
4. Once your application has been submitted, take note of the registration number provided as you will need to add this to your Airbnb listing.
After completing the registration process via the Planning Portal, you will need to add your registration details to your listing.

Note: There may be a 24 hour delay in this information being processed by the NSW Government.

If you are creating a new Airbnb listing, you will be asked to follow prompts to add your registration number during the listing creation process.

If you have an existing Airbnb listing, please follow the steps below.

Add your STRA Registration number to your Airbnb listing.

To add your STRA registration number to your existing Airbnb listing, follow these steps:

1. After receiving your registration number, log in to your Airbnb account.
2. Switch to your Host profile.
3. Click on your listing to bring up the listing details, then go to Policies and rules > Laws and regulations > Regulations.
4. Click edit and follow the prompts to add your registration number.
5. Click save.

Your registration number will now appear on your listing.
