Commander's Palace was established in 1890, and is located in the Garden District of Uptown New Orleans. It is a New Orleans classic that offers great Creole cuisine. It is a little on the touristy side but the food is still good, though expensive.

A massive park near the lake. This is definitely about a 15 minute drive from our home but worth it if you want to just go out and relax. There is a small lake you can rent canoes and kayaks on and you can rent bikes to cruise around the park. There is also the botanical gardens and the art museum here as well as a nice cafe for breakfast or lunch.
