Food Recs: Excellent Pho (pork, vegetarian are amazing!), papaya salad, catfish clay pot is killer. quick & consistent & not expensive, great for pickups, lunch or low maintenance dinner. Not the biggest space, but tasteful design. I tend to avoid it when eating with large groups.

Neighborhood watering hole. Great and friendly bartenders and a pretty surprising food menu. Nothing fancy but thoughtfully recreated bar food/Asian food hybrid. Pool table and dart board. Food recs: spam sushi roll, truffle tater tots (!), fish and chips, salad (not on menus but you can ask for a piece of salmon for extra charge. Awesome happy hour!

This is part music venue and part bar. Every night starting around 5pm, you can grab a drink and listen to an incredible range of music and quickly live performances. One of the best curated bars with a live music/performance element. I've seen some stellar acts here and have never left moody. Very friendly and engaging crowd. Tons of restaurants as it's in the heart of haight. Average to a little pricier depending on what you order (get some w grapefruit juice and the press the juice fresh on the spot.) Small cover on weekends and there's a range in patronage. Gay-friendly but not queer themed.

Little pricier because of area's rent BUT has most everything you need as is only 2 blocks away. Tons of healthy, veg options, pre-cooked meals and deli available--has a salad buffet and small coffee stand inside. Produce is always up and down. Great selection of wine and spirits.

Getting Around
When you walk from Loft to Bart after dark the entrance to Bart is sometimes a local hang out for colorful folks. I have never had an issue of any kind but usually stay pretty alert. It helps to walk with someone else in general after dark but do remember it's in the heart of metropolitan city.

This is a thrift store. HOWEVER, if you are in bind, keep in mind that this place has NEVER failed to impress me around finding something quickly and sometimes for as low as 2-10 dollars. They sell mostly donated items and often you will buy a new pair of designer jeans (with tags on) for only 7-12 dollars. It's just in a great area!

HOWEVER, if you are in bind, keep in mind that this place has NEVER failed to impress me around finding something quickly and sometimes for as low as 2-10 dollars. They sell mostly donated items and often you will buy a new pair of designer jeans (with tags on) for only 7-12 dollars. It's just in a great area!
