Food Scene

Xijie Pedestrian Street is the central draw in the town with cool little side streets full of restaurants, cafes, bars, local arts & crafts shops, fashion boutiques. Its got its all! Busy in the day - busier at night! When there is a wall of noise of the hubbub of commerce... Because, at times, foreigners outnumber Chinese, this street is also called 'foreigners' street'. Don't be surprised if you hear English words spoken by elderly Chinese women, for this street is called 'the global village'. A place to book local excursions, climbing trips and hire bikes or motorcycles.

Sightseeing

Views from the top will not disappoint! On a misty day the vista is almost magical. Moon Hill (Chinese: 月亮山; pinyin: Yuèliàng Shān; literally: "Moon Mountain") is a hill with a natural arch through it a few kilometers outside Yangshuo. It is so named for a wide, semicircular hole through the hill. It takes roughly 20 minutes to climb (about 800 steps) to the arch, or considerably longer for those who mean to reach the hill's summit. Visitors must pay an entrance fee to be allowed to climb the hill. Souvenirs and refreshment vendors will follow you up the hill - don't let them spoil your climb!

There is a Chinese proverb: "anyone who has been to Silver Cave would never short of money" Silver Cave (Chinese: 银子岩; pinyin: yín zi yán) is a national AAAA level scenic spot in Lipu County and 18 km away from Yangshuo. The cave is a floor-type cave, with three layers and more than ten scenery spots and different types of stalactites, which are crystal clear and sparkling like silver, thus providing the area with its common name. The most three famous scenic areas include snow-mountain with waterfall (Chinese: 雪山飞瀑; pinyin: xuěshān fēi pù), music stone screen (Chinese: 音乐石屏; pinyin: yīnyuè shí píng), and Jade Pool Wonderland (Chinese: 瑶池仙境; pinyin: yáochí xiānjìng).

Yangshuo Park is an interesting place to visit. Early morning you can witness the real morning Chinese life, such as locals (and often foreigners) practicing tai chi or kung fu, doing their Qi gong warming up exercises, walking, jogging or running, some singing or dancing and even students studying and practicing their English aloud. In the park, there is a nice trail leading to the pagoda on the summit of the mountain where you can have a bird’s eye view of the town.
