Follow the main streets of the City Centre to the Burnie foreshore, the City by the Sea. West Beach is a block from the central business district and is connected by boardwalk to the Makers' Workshop and the penguin habitat on the western end of the beach.

A 20 minute scenic drive south of Burnie past the township of Ridgley, Guide Falls is the most accessible waterfall in the Burnie hinterland.
Car parking just within the reserves entrance provides a wonderful picnic area with BBQ facilities and toilets. Take the easy 10 minute walk to the base of the waterfalls. Climb the steep stairs to the viewing platform for a birdseye view of the falls.
Dog friendly walk.
Additional vehicle access to the top of the falls ensures easy access for all.

Fern Glade Reserve is one of Burnie's most valuable natural and recreational resources. A peaceful river valley on the edge of the city abundant in flora and fauna. Amazing bird and wildlife thrive along the river banks. Varieties of orchids and fungi flourish under the bush canopy.
Fern Glade Reserve is just 3.9km from the City centre (Post Office) to the main entrance and it offers long walks along the banks of the Emu River and the chance to see platypus surfacing.
