Meeker is rich in history and is known for the location of the last Ute Indian uprising, known as the Meeker Massacre. Every 4th of July, the local 5K, known as the "Run for Your Life, takes places and brings runners and walkers from all around. The annual Range Call Celebration also boasts the longest running Colorado rodeo. The pretty White River runs from Trappers Lake in the Flat Tops Wilderness through Meeker where you might be able to catch a fish or two at City Park. Meeker lies on the edge of the White River National Forest and offers a variety of opportunities to fish, hunt, camp, hike, bike, cross-country ski, snowmobile, motor around on your 4-wheeler or UTV/ATV, or take a pack trip into the wilderness with one of the many local outfitters. Meeker is also the site of the Meeker Classic Championship Sheepdog Trials, bringing folks in from around the world with their amazing dogs to try and herd our local, stubborn sheep! Meeker has a wonderful museum that is jam packed full of history. It is worth a walk through!

Places to see in and around Meeker
Trappers Lake, located in the Flat Tops Wilderness in the White River National Forest, is 50 miles east of Meeker. There are great hiking trails around the area as well as fishing and a couple of camping areas. The lake contains a native cutthroat trout.

The rec district also offers a variety of fitness classes. And for the kids there is a great playground on the property with shelters for picnics.

PMC also offers total joint replacements and revisions along with general surgery. A retail pharmacy was recently opened in the hospital.

Enjoy the laid back atmosphere that Meeker has to offer.
Meeker is the epitome of "small town living". It is quiet although there is a highway running through town that sees some traffic from time to time. We make do with the one grocery store and a couple of convenience stores. The nearest Walmart is 40 miles in Rifle to south or 45 miles in Craig to the north. We have a small variety of shops downtown including a Family Dollar.

Meeker's Range Call Celebration
The Range Call Celebration, held over the 4th of July, boasts the longest running rodeo in Colorado along with a 5K "Run for Your Life" and Meeker Massacre Pageant. Held every 4th of July since 1885, Meeker has celebrated Independence Day with concerts, rodeos, a parade, vendors, lots of activities and, of course, a wonderful display of fireworks. Meeker turns from sleepy to bustling for a few days every July!
