Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen Blixen. The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title.

Your visit begins as the orphaned elephants converge for their midday milk feed. Afterwards, watch them enjoy a playful frolic in the dust or, if the mood suits them, a full mud bath.
Keepers are on-hand to introduce you to each of the orphans, sharing their unique rescue stories and explaining the threats facing elephants. Funds from your visit help support the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned elephants in their care.

Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded.

15 minutes away from us is the famous Nairobi National Park. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded.
The Giraffe Centre was established in order to protect the vulnerable Rothschild giraffe, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa.
In 1979, the Giraffe Center, a nature sanctuary for visiting and including wildlife conservation education for urban school children, was started by Jock Leslie Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured two baby giraffe to start a programme of breeding giraffes on their Langata property, site of the present Centre. Since then the programme has had huge success, resulting in the introduction of several breeding pairs of Rothschild Giraffe into Kenyan national parks.
By 1983 enough money had been raised to establish the Giraffe Visitor's Center as a tourist destination just outside Nairobi.
The main attraction for both school children and visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The Giraffe Center is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.

The Oloolua Nature Trail is an indigenous forest sanctuary and a wonderful place for an easy hike.
There is a 37 meter long cave that was once used by Mau Mau fighters and presently home to bats and other small mammals.
The waterfalls are where Mbagathi River drops about twenty feet over large black boulders into a small pool of water before flowing on. Big fig trees with dangling roots cling tenaciously to the sides of the river valley.
You can hear vervet monkeys and Turaco birds calling out in the trees. Other wildlife you may see are Sykes monkeys and dik-dik antelopes. It is also home to the rare Crowned eagle and may other birds.
