Google Kincaid park - it's an incredible wild and natural park within Anchorage city limits. You'll most likely see moose there, and if you're really lucky a bear. Great for bike rides, picnics, and sunsets.

Train Ride to Seward
This is an especially spectacular thing to do while in Alaska. You will be going past glaciers, streams, through mountains and seeing incredible vistas. It is hands down one of my most favorite train rides in Alaska. I'd say it's even better than the train ride to Denali.

If you really want to experience and learn about Alaskan culture visit the heritage center. It is a unique place with replicas of different types of homes. Plus don't forget to take your photo underneath the whale bones!

This means give me some mosquito spray!!! The state bird will deplete your body within minutes if you forget to spray - fortunately we sprayed at the house (eco-friendly) spray so they shouldn't be too bad while you're staying with us.

Tony Knowles Coastal Trail
If you enjoy walking, biking, roller blading hit up this really awesome trail that takes you from downtown south to Kincaid Park. Walk some or all of the trail. Great shoreline vistas.

One word - LAYERS!
Always bring layers, even if you have checked the weather before arriving. Alaska is many microclimates, and it can be sunny and hot in Anchorage and cold and rainy in Seward. Always wear layers. Invest in good waterproof (not water resistant, there is a difference) clothing. Bring a hat! People don't realize that during the summer in Anchorage we have 19 hours of sunlight - it's hot, it's bright and you'll burn. Winter time invest in good gear that keeps your warm! and yes... dress in layers!
