Beaches

This is the closest beach to Mountainwood Chalet. It is about a 14-minute car ride away. This is also a very popular beach, so I would suggest arriving early in the morning to get a parking spot as it the parking lot fills up. If you don't go in the morning, there is parking across the street. You'll probably see many cars parking there and people walking across. If you hav

This is separate from the typical Wasaga Beach with the strip. It is a quieter beach and the water is shallow for a long ways out! Great for kids. It costs $21 for entry for the day. To get to the right place, type in "Wasaga Beach 6" in Maps.

A full park where you can relax on the grass or get into the water. Not a large beach like the others in the area but is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. Long path along the water. NEW kids playground across the street which is amazing. A must-visit with kids. It is paid-parking for non-residents.

Food scene

If you're looking for a fancier place to get dinner, The Tremont Cafe is the perfect place. It is small and quaint but has indoor and outdoor seating. Only about a 5 minute drive away.

Located just 15 minutes outside of Collingwood, Thornbury is such a cute little town! This is a great place for a quick breakfast or lunch, to get ice cream, pastries, or pre-made homemade food. They also have great roasted coffee! A must to stop by if you go into Thornbury. I highly recommend making the 15-minute drive.

THE place to go for breakfast and worth the 15 minute drive from Collingwood. If you're looking for a full *Canadian* breakfast, you should definitely come here to eat. The lineup can be long, depending on whether or not it's the weekend or what time you get there. All the food is good, particularly the Apple-caramel pancakes!

You may have tried Side Launch Craft Beer at home, well Collingwood is home to its brewery. Where many of the locals hang out you can get great beer and hang out inside or outside! Only a few minutes away. There are also bike trails that lead you here. Ask me about this if interested.

Sightseeing

The entrance to Scenic Caves can be a little pricey depending on the size of your group ($32/adult) but this is truly a full day event. You will get wristbands so you can go in in the morning, leave for lunch (or nap for the little ones) and return later. They normally close as 5pm. So many activities for everyone, so much to do!: -Explore the caves, they truly are worth it! (Uneven terrain) -A beautiful lookout point just before going into the caves. A view of all of Collingwood and of the Georgian Bay. -Tons of different trails that you can spend hours doing. There is a map and guide book when you arrive which will give you details of the different trails -Suspension Bridge - big hit, the view and grandeur of it is worth it! Take your time going across the bridge to fully take it in. I suggest going right in the morning or leaving that to closer to 5pm, there'll be fewer people on it and you can enjoy it more and get some great pictures. -Mini put for the kids -Mini train ride for the kids -A food truck on site -Souvenir shop -Ice cream, popsicles

Hiking

Great easy-moderate trail about 15 minutes away by car. In total, if you do the two loops to come back to the entrance, it is about 1.5 hour hike. Great lookout point near the middle. You will see a cabin and the lookout is near there. You can also take the road that goes straight through (used to be a service road), and it will lead you to the lookout.

Neighbourhoods

Take a 15 minute drive out of Collingwood and you'll be happy you did! Thornbury is a little quaint town that isn't as busy as Collingwood. Visit the very small downtown (but with great little shops and coffee shops) on Bruce Street. Also visit the Thornbury distillery right when you come into town. And check out Thornbury Harbour for beautiful and tranquil views of the Georgian Bay. You can also rent kayaks and canoes here.
