Food scene
This is an outdoor seating only/to go Texas-style BBQ joint with kick ass brisket, the best kind of no nonsense banana pudding, and sweet tea served right—in appropriately Southern-sized (read: giant) styrofoam cups. It's a very short walk from our place, and also has breakfast burritos that are cheap and use homemade tortillas. Yum!

Daily is a local coop grocery that has all the essentials you might need, from toothpaste to local fruit and veggies. They used to be veggie only, but now have some great organic and local meat options, as well as wine and beer. (You don't need to be a member to shop there.) We like to walk there just to have a destination when we are strolling around the neighborhood and get a King of Pops popsicle in chocolate sea salt or raspberry lime to fuel our walk.
