Newly refurbished with new owners this pub has been transformed. Lovely atmosphere, great food and fresh ground coffee. We love this place. The Parmesan and truffle fries are extra tasty :)

The most delicious pizzas, beautiful bakery, lovely interior. Bruton is worth the drive out from Wedmore. Swing by the famous Hauser & Wirth art gallery and cruise the independent shops on the high street. Celeb spotting too.

Legends tell that Joseph of Arimathea came to Glastonbury and brought the Holy Grail, a chalice used by Jesus at the Last Supper. This he is supposed to have hidden under a spring on Tor Hill. Then he built a chapel, and on the chapel site an abbey was established around AD 700. That abbey was to become one of the richest and most powerful in Britain. The ruins of Glastonbury Abbey boast another mythical connection; the supposed grave of King Arthur, unearthed by monks in the 12th century.

Wookey caves - A paid attraction and geared for visitors to spend more money but the real focus is on the guided tour of the caves which really is special. Wookey Hole Caves are a series of limestone caverns, a show cave and tourist attraction in the village of Wookey Hole on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills near Wells in Somerset, England. The River Axe flows through the cave. It is a site of special scientific interest for both biological and geological reasons.

Spa day
We adore this small local spa 30 minutes drive from the Retreat. The half day package is a particular favourite with three hours in the spa a 30 minute treatment and lunch in the adjacent kitchen. All amazing quality and lovely friendly staff highly recommended
