Riverview Drive is an arterial road from the base of our municipal ski slope, Chapman Hill, to the northeast side of town. Riverview winds across a mesa perched above the Animas River (with insane views from the homes on the west side of the road), then turns into 29th Street and drops into an area known as Animas City... where our home is located.

Just up the street from the house is a trailhead called Animas Mountain. It's a moderate climb with views of the city showing themselves almost immediately. Venture miles of trail network in Sailing Hawks and Overend Park or just find a spot to sit and enjoy the view.

The view of Durango from the top of "Hogsback" is one of the best vantage points in town. It's a quick but intense hike. Once you reach treeline, the pitch steepens and while a little exposed, the effort is well worth it. Take water and a snack.
