In the way back of the store is a counter that sells frito pies. If you’ve never experienced frito pie, it’s a delicious mix of chili and fritos (plus cheese and onions, if you like), eaten right out of the bag. It’s definitely a break from healthy eating, but sometimes you’ve just got to do it. So much fun to sit in the plaza and eat frito pie right out of the bag!

Ojo Caliente Spa has a location in Santa Fe and on the way to Taos. Both are absolutely wonderful and offer incredible hot spring soaking, swimming, spa services, restaurants and beautiful grounds to relax and rejuvenate your body, mind and soul! Day passes are first come first served and I recommend going on a weekday or earlier in the day on the weekend before it’s too crowded.

The River Trail is our favorite way to get out and about. You’ll find about 5 miles of paved trail along the Santa Fe River, perfect for a walk or
run. From the house, head north (take a right) on Urioste. There are access points to the Trail about a block down, either to the right or left, on Alto. You can access Bicentennial/Alto Park to the left (tennis/basketball courts, soccer/baseball fields) and the grocery co-op, restaurants and plaza to the right.

The Aspen Vista Trail is a must, especially during the fall when the aspens are golden. Incredible views along the trail. Fun in the winter for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hiking, as well.

This gorgeous hike takes you along an arroyo and then up to Atalaya Peak, with stunning views along the way. Google map St. Johns College and follow the signs to Atalaya Trail for parking.
