If you love burgers and beer then head over here!!! The Monahan family along with long-time employee "lloyd" created the first REAL restaurant on St. Claude . . . casual and great. We love Pauli the barman. The Boxcar Burger is terrific. Beer selection on tap is extensive with lots of local and regional brews.

Drinks & Nightlife

Entertainment street has morphed over the years on this stretch of Frenchman Street from Esplanade and ending at Royal Street & Washington Square Park. Blue, Traditional Jazz, National acts (at Snug Harbor catch the Marsalis Family on any given night and Charmaine Neville is a regular) or check out DBA, Spotted Cat, Apple Barrel, Blue Nile and more. There is a nightly art market . . .only a 7 minute stroll from the house! Cab it back though if it's late!

Sightseeing

No visit to New Orleans would be complete without spending time in The French Quarter! May I suggest one very, very secret place . . . The rooftop at the OMNI hotel at St. Louis and Chartres street. Ask for a key from the front desk (during daylight hours!) and just say you would like to see the view. If they balk, tell them you will buy a drink from the bar in the Rib Room (their restaurant - quite good!) and that should do it. The view overlooking the French Quarter makes you feel like you are in Paris. And, it will really give you a perspective of the Mississippi River and the Crescent curve hence the name, The Crescent City.

Take a ferry ride across to Historic Algiers Point and see New Orleans from another perspective. Have a drink at the old point bar and see the intact enclave of historic house. Watch the ferry time or its a cab ride back!

Shopping

Classy and refined and anchors the permanent shops at The French Market. Start at Pop City to kick off your shopping. They feature the Nola Arrow shirt - best new orleans shirt around. And, a bunch of other designs. They make their own jewelry - the crescent collection - and kitchen wear, trivits, etc. with new orleans images. Great souvenirs - but classy. They carry reef and rainbow sandals - if your feet are tired! And, many great women's clothing brands along with "Be Nice or Leave" by iconic local artist Dr. Bob and Nurhan Gokturks award winning art. Check them out for sure.
