This trail can be an out and back or if you’re feeling especially ambitious can connect you to many additional trails. The views are spectacular and though it’s a bit technical, many, many children have hiked this and it’s great for dogs, too!
Inspiration Point is one of the best views in the Catskills and has the biggest payout for the least amount of work! Located approximately less than an hour from the apartment, this is a phenomenal hike for sightseeing!

Giant Ledge is a 6.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Big Indian, NY that is rated as moderate and has an elevation as 1,981 feet. Great for hiking, bird watching, and snowshoeing.

Twin Mountain is part of the Catskill Mountain 3500+ and is very difficult. The out and back totals 6.1 miles with intense vertical and climbing. A phenomenal challenge and not suitable for large dogs (if you can hoist the dog up and over rocks, you’ll be fine).

The Overlook Mountain trail is a 5 mile out and back trail located in Woodstock that is rated moderate. Great for hiking, biking, running and bird watching.
Overlook Mountain is approximately a 30 minute drive from the apartment and is packed filled with great views! This 5 mile round trip hike has 1000 feet of vertical, an overlook and a fire tower at the top along with a very cool abandoned mountain house that was never completed from the 1920’s. If you are feeling especially ambitious, you can catch the Echo Lake and Devils Path trail from Overlook as well!
