If you visit Phuket then you really have to visit the Big Buddha. It's the highest point on the island, (apart from Radar hill) and can be seen from most of the southern towns. Made from white Burmese marble the views are incredible and you can get blessed from the monks that live there and remember a loved one by writing your name or a message on a tile or a prayer bell. Not to be missed.

Get the Smart bus!

The Smart bus travels the beach roads, starting at Rawai beach, over the mountain roads to Kata and Karon, Patong and all the way to the airport and back the same route. It's really cheap compared to taxis here and you can get on and off at the different beaches as you like.
Wat je moet meenemen

Flip-flops, suncream, a sunhat, sunglasses, waterbottle.

It's hot so bring all the necessary stuff for the heat, sunglasses, sunhat, and suncream. Bring flipflops as that's all we wear here and they're easy to take on and off! Thailand is terrible for plastic, so bring a water bottle if you can and a cloth shopping bag that can be used over and over again.
Cultuur en gebruiken

Take your shoes off before entering a house or temple.

When you go inside a temple please be aware that you must take your shoes off, this is why most Thai people wear flipflops as they're easy to put on and off. Also, remove shoes before entering someone's house. Some shops this will apply too, but don't worry about it, if you see a pile of shoes outside then you know to take them off.
