The Cock Hemingford Grey. Lovely gastro pub in a beautiful riverside village. You can stroll by the banks of the Ouse, walk to Hemingford Abbott's, another lovely village or walk across the meadow to St Ives from Hemingford Grey. This is the first pub I had proper drink in 1978. The pub had (back then) a proper off license behind a little door, it was run by a lady called Dora Bone. Those were the days!!

A great old pub with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a sunken bar selling lots of real ale and good food. The village is very quiet and pretty.

Cambridge City
Cambridge is packed with shops, pubs, restaurants, museums etc. Punt hire is available, you can have a punt chauffeur and learn about the history of the colleges as you tour on the water. There are 2 shopping malls and 3 cinemas in Cambridge one of the cinemas is an Arts cinema next to Wetherspoons pub on Regent Street. There are villages near Cambridge Grantchester being an interesting one where you will find Byron's pool and Granchester meadows. Also the tea rooms/garden are worth a visit. You can even punt all the way there if you can manage to get your punt up and over the rollers.
