Sightseeing
Get a panoramic view of Yellowknife from the Bush Pilot Monument. It’s a long climb up, but the view is worth it. Bundle up. It can be chilly in the breeze up there! This is one of the best places to get a good look at the houseboats on Yellowknife Bay of Great Slave Lake, Old Town, and the City Centre.

3513 Ingraham DrGet a panoramic view of Yellowknife from the Bush Pilot Monument. It’s a long climb up, but the view is worth it. Bundle up. It can be chilly in the breeze up there! This is one of the best places to get a good look at the houseboats on Yellowknife Bay of Great Slave Lake, Old Town, and the City Centre.
This park beside City Hall is a great place to bring a picnic lunch. Sit by the shore of Frame Lake and enjoy the view. Then take a walk around the Frame Lake Trail.

Niven Lake is a water fowl staging lake. A walk around the lake might include seeing otters, muscrat s and beavers as well as local waterfowl. This walk takes about 30 minutes. Wear mosquito repellant.

If you have access to a vehicle, take a drive about an hour down the Ingraham Trail to Hidden Lake. Here you’ll find a trail to Cameron Falls, a lovely waterfall and nature hike. Takes about 45 minutes.

The Frame Lake Trail winds around Frame Lake, past City Hall and the Legislative Assembly. Parts of the trail require scrambling and climbing over rocks, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear. The trail takes about an hour or more to walk around. But even if you don’t want to hike that far, a short out-and-back walk is also very nice.
