The Neck area of the peninsula is so close to so many area breweries and tap rooms.
Super close to the house, like only 2 mins (0.8 miles), this super-basic, no-frills brewery makes some goooood beer. On some Friday and Saturday nights, there is a little band-stand with live music. Picnic tables provide simple seating. Cheap, good beer. Their Mexican Lager is a huge local hit.

Beaches
My perspective on the Charleston area beaches (which aren't far at all from the cottage.)
Gorgeous beach! This is the quietest of Charleston's 3 beaches. Sullivans Island is a 20-min door-to-door drive from the cottage. This is the closest of the 3 Charleston area beaches to the cottage. Hot tip: get there early. The parking in Sullivans Island is all on-street (which is part of what makes it so cool) and is first-come first serve. Areas where you can park are clearly marked, so it isn't hard, but you just need to get out there on the front half of the day. There are a handful of super-cool pubs/eateries on Middle Street for when you want to get out of the sun for a bit, or if you want to grab something cold before heading off the island.

This is known as some of the best surfing on the East Coast. The majority of surfers in Charleston can be found here. Home to one of Charleston's beaches' two piers. Public parking lots are available here at various access points and at the pier. The walks from your car to the beach are shorter walks than at Sullivan's Island. Hot tip: DON'T SPEED! Go the speed limit LITERALLY. Folly Beach police are legendary for speeding tickets. Keep it slooooow.

Fantastic authentic Mexican + Southwest food. Great vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating. Easy parking found here in this location, in the NoMo District. Fun place, pretty cheap prices.
