Food scene

An oldie but a goodie. Exceptional pub meals are eaten here and after 30 years of dining, they haven't failed us.

Fresh, local produce in a relaxed yet upmarket environment. One of our favourites for coffee or a small bite to eat.

The food is consistently good, you know that they always say where the locals go is where you should go. Need I say more, that was pretty convincing. It's position directly underneath the bridge connecting Goolwa to Hindmarsh Island and next to paddle steamer docking station is a true Goolwa experience.

That's a joke right? Sorry international travellers, Port Elliot Bakery is a legend in South Australia. I'm trying to think of the best thing to try when you get there but I can't...just get it all.

Because let's face it, you're on holidays and who wants to cook every night. You name it, pizza, pasta, chooks, fish, burgers, yiros and even salads - it's all here.

Where the Murray meets the ocean. Must see's include Goolwa Beach, the Cockle Train, Goolwa Wharf (including markets) and the Murray Mouth. Murray Mouth is accessed from Goolwa Beach via 4WD (lots of fun) or scoot over the bridge and follow the signs.

Totally biased here. Port Elliot is amazeballs. No franchises, no shopping centres and no stress. Best beach in SA, best bakery in SA and best main street in SA hands down!

Pretty much everyone knows Victor right? If not, head on over and check out that amazing view across to Granite Island as you head down the hill into the township. Jump on the horsedrawn tram over the causeway, do a lap of Granite Island, swim with tuna, climb the Bluff, play mini golf or shop!

Home to many of SA's finest wineries and restaurants. Home of The d'Arenberg Cube (https://www.darenberg.com.au/darenberg-cube/), Alpha Box & Dice, Wirra Wirra and Coriole. Just a few of our favourite cellar doors.

32km of sealed path and roadways link Goolwa North to Encounter Bay. Mostly easy riding and a gorgeous way to enjoy the fabulous coastline. Remember you can catch the train back if it all gets a bit too much!

Activities

Whether your feeling active or loungey, there's something for everyone. Grab one of our bikes, a rod or just a sun lounge.
If you want to do a walk (and I mean a real walk needing boots), then head on over to Kings Beach and jump onto the Heysen Trail heading west towards Newland Head. Words cannot describe the coastal cliffs, diverse vegetation and rugged beauty of this area. Not overly difficult walking but pack water and a picnic. You can thank us later!
