Sightseeing

If you come to Panama, visiting the Canal is a must! It is totally awesome to get up close to the enormous ships that work their way through this epic part of their journey...

On the edge of the City, Amador hosts a lovely marina, lots of restaurants and stunning views of the pacific. Driving over the causeway always feels like an adventure. There are places to hire bikes and mopeds and is a lovely place to just hang out... a hot spot at weekends.

You can walk up this hill... however, most people drive... It is one way only so there can sometimes be a bit of a queue to get up and once there parking is limited... but the drive up and the amazing 360 degree views are well worth it!

Parks & Nature

El Valle is one of our favourite places... only a gorgeous 25 minute drive from our house, winding roads up into the mountains then down into the inhabited crater there is so much to do here... the fresh produce market, artisan market, Zoo, waterfalls, zip line, mud baths, butterfly house as well as great places to eat and visit.

We love El Palmar Beach... Typically a surfy beach, there are a couple of Surf Schools where you can hire surf boards and get lessons, there is a great little bar/restaurant and just a generally chilled out vibe... showers and toilets are an added benefit although at weekends you will get charged to park in the main car park and to use the added facilities!

This beach is gorgeous... the only downside is you have to leave the car half way down the road and hike along a very rough trail... a bit of a pain but worth it! If you fancy an equally gorgeous beach... Playa Los Panama, Turn left onto the highway and take the first right under the white archway... you can drive all the way down to the beach, there is car parking (you may get charged a small fee especially on weekends) The beach is natural and untouched, tree lined with palms and almond trees... a real locals beach

Arts & Culture

There are lots of places to visit in the city... one of our favourite places is Casco Viejo, surrounded by ocean, the views are stunning, cobbled streets with an influence of Spanish architecture mixed with broken down ruins, churches and great places to eat and drink, this is great day or night. The Fish Markets on the edge of the Cinta Costera is walking distance from Casco Viejo and is another of our faves... not the restaurant, we like to sit outside the stalls with the locals, it is vibrant and fun, watching the world whizz by, families enjoying themselves and life...

There are plenty of things to do here... If you like shopping this is probably the best all round shopping mall, with a good mixture of shops, boutiques, eateries, a cinema, bowling alley, arcades etc and only 45 minutes from us heading towards the City. Just before the Mall there is also a new trampoline park called the Summit!

15 minutes in the opposite direction to Coronado is Playa Blanca with its huge new Super 99 supermarket and Novey. This is where we prefer to shop for our groceries, not only because it is way less hectic than Coronado, it is also noticeably cheaper!

Just a couple of minutes from our place you will find a convenience store M/S Mary as well as a hardware store... Carry on to the highway and you will pass various other convenience stores, a couple of local restaurants and Fondas, and a locals bar. At the end of the road where it meets the highway there is a Pharmacy that is open late night and weekends, another hardware store and a great little Fonda that Rob likes... alot!

Drinks & Nightlife

Picasso is undoubtedly the heart of the Coronado Community... A bar and restaurant by night and a cafe during the day... THE BEST Happy Hour, 5pm to 7pm every Wednesday evening. Loads of activities going on during the week both day and evening including the Artisan Market Tuesday mornings and Trivia nights Thursday. Live music Saturday night and plenty more!
