Athens Metro line 1 (Green line) from Thiseio station goes all the way to Piraeus port, as well as to Kifisia at the opposite way. Line 3 (Blue line) also goes to Piraeus, stopping at Dimotiko Theatro, as well as directly to the Airport at the opposite way. To avoid disappointment, make sure to get the €10 special Airport ticket if that's your destination.

Keep in mind that protests and large crowds are fairly common in these areas, so researching before visiting or travelling through there by car or bus before hand. The metro isn't affected.

Packing appropriate clothes & shoes
Greece is a southern mediterranean country, and Central Athens climate usually reaches around 20 C / 68 F during a majority of the year, however summers are way warmer at 40 C / 104 F, so it's advised to bring light clothing, both in coloring and fabric, as well as applying sunscreen every 2 hours of walking directly under sunlight. Bring comfortable shoes or sandals ideal for walking long distances.
