The black sand is amazing, but on a sunny day it's hot underfoot so be careful. The waves can be very strong so you need to be a confident swimmer. It's generally patrolled by Surf Lifeguards during the summer - swim between the flags.

Beautiful spot for a walk along the seaside. Nice local restaurants. Very close to the beautiful high-point Musick Point that offers beautiful vistas of the city and harbour.

Each offers a lovely beach front, good restaurants/bars, but Mission Bay is the largest of the three. It also has a lovely fountain which is lit up at night and a playground for the kids.
