The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from June until August. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The Black Diamond Trail: The section of the Black Diamond Trail that runs between Garrett Road and Perry City Road will be closed for a culvert replacement from November 12th, 2019 to November 29th, 2019. Use of this section of the BDT Trail is strictly prohibited between these dates.
The Overlook Viewing Platform at Taughannock Falls: The viewing platform and stairs leading down to it will be closed starting on November 12th, 2019 and will remain closed throughout the winter. This area may close before this posted date if conditions warrant. Please obey all signs and keep out/off trails that are closed.
The South Rim Trail section from the Gorge Parking Lot up to the Gorge Road pull-off will be closed for the winter starting on November 12th, 2019. This area may close before this posted date if conditions warrant. Please obey all signs and keep out/off trails that are closed.
The Stone Stairs on the North Rim Trail: The stone stairs that lead from the camping area at Taughannock Falls to Route #89 will be closed starting on November 12th, 2019 and will remain closed throughout the winter. This area may close before this posted date if conditions warrant. Please obey all signs and keep out/off trails that are closed. An alternate route will be posted so hikers can access the North Rim trail from the bottom to the top throughout the winter when conditions allow.
