L’architetto portoghese Alvaro Siza ha trasformato l’antico palazzo Donnaregina in uno splendido e funzionale spazio moderno per l’arte contemporanea. Nel cuore nascosto di Napoli, dove pulsa l’anima popolare della città, a pochi passi dal Duomo e dal Tesoro di San Gennaro, a cento metri dal Museo Archeologico, la presenza del Museo MADRE è anche l’occasione per ridisegnare la vocazione turistica di un quartiere ricco di valori sociali da recuperare e di beni culturali da riscoprire. Al primo piano del museo sono collocate le opera permanenti di Clemente, Lewitt, Long, Bianchi, Fabro, Koons, Paladino, Kounellis,Horn, Paolini e Serra.
