Sightseeing
Ripley has a Walmart, a hospital, gas stations, the courthouse, city swimming pool, and most basic amenities. There are a few places to dine in ripley. Somehow there are a lot of pizza places (little Caesars, dominos, maka Mia pizza, fat Albert’s pizza, gino’s pizza.) ripley also has 3 Mexican restaurants (cozumel’s, las trancas, and the fast food style Taco Bell), bob evans, kam bo Chinese, and the fair plain yacht club.
Ripley is known for its unusual large 4th of July festivities. President George W. Bush actually landed in my back yard when I was a kid to give a speech on the court house lawn. We had walk through metal detecting scanners, bomb sniffing dogs, and around 100 national guardsman surrounding the neighborhood. The festivities include: parade, cedar lakes arts and crafts fair, carnival, and an amazing fireworks show.

Ravenswood is a small town with possibly the most churches per capita. It has a Mexican restaurant downtown, a Pizza Hut, and a Taco Bell.

Charleston is about 40 miles away. Go checkout the capital building, restaurants, Cabella’s store, downtown district.

Park outside of ravenswood, along the Ohio river. With a small museum and the Sayre log cabin. My mother is related to the Sayre family that the cabin originated from.

During the last week of July, this is one of the best fairs in the state of WV. Horse shows, mud bogs, truck and tractor sled pulls, arts and crafts, large numbers of farm animals being show, carnival, music events, and lots of people.

We get many guests staying with us that travel far and wide to come see the mothman and every year there is the mothman festival. If you haven’t seen the movie with Richard Gere, go and watch it!

If you have the time, the new river gorge area is about 100miles south. It has many attractions, historic Beckley coal mine tour, rafting and outdoor adventures, and spectacular views.

This a little bit of a drive, but really fun if you have not been. Great hiking, beautiful rocks, and waterfalls. The lodging prices in the hocking hills area are insane, so save some money and stay on our farm.

This is an amazing arts, crafts, music, and cultural festival. It was one of my favorite highlights each summer. I recommend the honey bee booth, glass blowing, blacksmithing
