Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a village based around a bay. It has a mile long prom that you can walk or cycle along. This picture shows ChurchPoint Caravan site, where our caravan is situated near to the church. It is famous for its couple sculpture - Ebb and Flow!

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

The Maritime centre is a five minute walk from the caravan and is situated adjacent to the beach. It’s glass fronted with great views. Lovely place to get a coffee or snack/lunch . There is also a small maritime museum inside as well as a lovely gift shop. It has seating outside as well. Turn left out of the caravan site and walk through car park and you will see the Maritime Centre on the prom

Cresswell is about 5 miles from Newbiggin by the Sea. It has a fabulous beach and it is a popular bird watching area. The village has one ice cream shop, which closes out of season and a lovely cafe to the north of the village (The Drift Cafe) which is open all year round.

Another beautiful Northumberland Beach, about 8 miles away. There is a country park centre here situated near the bay.

Woodhorn Museum is a ten minute drive away and is a fascinating place to visit. It tells the history of coal mining in the area and has original buildings to look around. It also houses a gallery showing, amongst other things, the paintings that the miners used to paint in their spare time. There is a cafe and gift shop. As locals we go regularly and it’s a lovely place to spend two or three hours.
