Le Guide ai Quartieri

Cannaregio district is the largest in the city and the most populated. Cannaregio in fact occupies almost the entire part of the city north of the Grand Canal, extending from the train station to the city center at the foot of the Rialto bridge. The main waterway is the Canale di Cannaregio, which connects the Grand Canal with the lagoon. It is the only internal canal in the historic center, in addition to the Grand Canal, to be crossed by water buses and in this canal there are two bridges:the Ponte delle Guglie and the Ponte dei Tre Archi. this area is full of typical restaurants, "trattorie", live music, and is inhabited mainly by Venetians; here you will find everything from the supermarket to the fish market to the bio-vegan shops. Venice is the only historical city to be entirely historical center, so in every street or square you will find walking over a thousand years of history and art, you will not have enough eyes to admire all this! Cannaregio is also the district of the famous Jewish ghetto, the first recognized Ghetto in Europe, around which the atmosphere is magically Venetian.
