Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè is an ancient Coffee Shop and Roaster that was born in the thirties. Located in the heart of Rome, in front of the Senato della Repubblica palace, it is just a few steps away from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. It was founded in 1938. The mosaic paving and the furnishings are still the original ones. The symbol of Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè is a stag which recalls the apparition and conversion to Christianity of the previously pagan Eustace. In the piazza of the same name stands the Sant’Eustachio Basilica, a church more than one thousand years old. On the top of the basilica, instead of the traditional cross, there is a white stag with a cross between its horns. In 1999 the brothers Raimondo and Roberto Ricci began to run Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè. They decided to carry on the tradition, selecting the best coffee varieties and offering a range of products prepared with a legendary secret blend. The Coffee Shop has 6 tables outdoors and inside the premises is still functioning a device to roast coffee over wood that goes back to 1948.

Parks & Nature

Villa Borghese is a landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums (Galleria Borghese) and attractions. It is the third largest public park in Rome after Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Ada. The gardens were developed for the Villa Borghese Pinciana, built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a villa suburbana, a party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. The gardens as they are now were remade in the early nineteenth century.

Shopping

Via del Corso is a main street in the historical centre of Rome. Today, the Corso is a popular place for the "passeggiata", the evening stroll for the populace to be seen and to see others. It is also an important shopping street for tourists and locals alike. Here you can find the big national and international stores, as well as small shops with great bargains. Without a shadow of doubt chic shopping in Rome is traditionally done in the Tridente neighbourhood. The street itself is remarkable for being absolutely straight in an area characterized by narrow meandering alleys and small piazzas. The length of the street is roughly 1.5 kilometres. The Corso runs in a generally north-south direction. To the north, it links the northern entrance gate to the city, the Porta del Popolo and its piazza, the Piazza del Popolo, to the heart of the city at the Piazza Venezia, at the base of the Capitoline Hill. At the Piazza del Popolo, Via del Corso is framed by two Baroque churches, Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto, and along the street are the church of San Carlo al Corso, the church of San Giacomo in Augusta, the church of Gesù e Maria, the Piazza Colonna with the ancient column of Marcus Aurelius, the Galleria Alberto Sordi, the church of Santa Maria in Via Lata, the Oratory of Santissimo Crocifisso, the church of San Marcello al Corso and the Palazzo Doria Pamphili. From the fifteenth century, the road served as the racetrack during the Roman Carnival for an annual running of riderless horses called the "corsa dei barberi", which is the source for the name Via del Corso.

Via Cola di Rienzo is a shopping street which connects Piazza Risorgimento - next to the Basilica of Saint Peter - to Piazza del Popolo in the heart of historic Rome, where locals usually love to do shopping. There is definitely more genuine feeling here. You'll find pretty much everything from cloth stores to supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, a fresh food market (Mercato Rionale), a large department store (Coin Excelsior), high-end stores and banks. The pleasure of walking along this street is window-shopping. An added bonus is that St. Peter's and the Vatican are just a stone's throw away from here.

Arts & Culture

Auditorium Parco della Musica is a large multi-functional public complex in Rome dedicated to music, contributing to enrich the already immense patrimony of the Eternal City. The complex is situated in the north of the city, in the area where the 1960 Summer Olympic Games were held. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. The three large concert halls are Sala Petrassi, in memory of Goffredo Petrassi, about 700 seats; Sala Sinopoli, in memory of Giuseppe Sinopoli, about 1200 seats; and Sala Santa Cecilia, about 2800 seats. They are structurally separated to ensure soundproofing, though joined at the base by a continuous lobby. A fourth "concert hall", called Cavea, is the open air theater recalling ancient Greek and Roman theaters. The fan-shaped layout is formed around the central piazza. During construction, excavations uncovered the foundations of a villa and oil press dating from sixth century BC. Renzo Piano redesigned the facility to accommodate the archaeological remains and included a small museum to house the artifacts that were discovered. The Parco della Musica was formally inaugurated on 21 December 2002; in few years it became Europe's most visited music facility. In 2014 it had over two million spectators, making it the second most visited cultural music venue in the world, after Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is located at the Parco della Musica.
