The spectacular performances, for which the theater became a stage, could be enjoyed by as many as 3,500 spectators at a time. If you want to see the old building, you can find it between Jambaz Tepe (hill) and Taksim Tepe (hill).

The ancient theatre of Philippopolis is a historical building in the city center of Plovdiv. The construction of the theatre dates back to the time of Emperor Trajan (reigned 98–117 AD).
This is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatres, located in the city center of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It was constructed in the 90s of the 1st century AD, probably under the rulership of Emperor Domitian. The theatre can host between 5000 and 7000 spectators and it is currently in use.
