Αφιερωμένος στα Εισόδια της Θεοτόκου, ο καθεδρικός ναός της πόλης των Χανίων χτίστηκε στη θέση ενός παλαιότερου ναού της Θεοτόκου του 14ου αιώνα. Επί τουρκοκρατίας μετατράπηκε σε σαπωνοποιείο και το 1868 αποδόθηκε στους ορθοδόξους, με πρόνοια και χρηματική επιχορήγηση του ίδιου του Οθωμανού Διοικητή Κρήτης Μουσταφά Ναϊλή Πασά. Εσωτερικά διακρίνεται για τον πλούσιο φορητό και τοιχογραφικό διάκοσμο Κρητών καλλιτεχνών
