In Punta Guaniquilla can find one of the most extraordinary places in Puerto Rico: a landscape of boulders in the middle of a lagoon, which could very well be taken as out-of-this-worldly. Laguna Guaniquilla, a lagoon that serves as an important refuge for migratory birds protected at both local and federal agencies, and which visit the area every winter from such distant places. Punta Guaniquilla has also been designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA), a classification given by BirdLife International to those areas that are crucial to the survival of endemic, native and visiting species. Need permission from the Fideicomiso de Conservacion de Puerto Ricoto visit this site.
