The Whitney Museum of American Art, known informally as the "Whitney", is an art museum in Manhattan. It was founded in 1930 by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, a wealthy and prominent American socialite and art patron after whom it is named. The Whitney focuses on 20th- and 21st-century American art
One of my favorite museums in New York! Check out the observation decks for a truly picturesque view of Manhattan.
An aesthetically pleasing museum building with a focus on living artists. It claims to have an unsurpassed collection of modern and contemporary American art. Founded by an American sculpture and member of the famous Vanderbilt family, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Located right by the High Line.
Friday evenings are FREE. If you like MoMa, you'll like The Whitney. It's contemporary.
