One of Colorado's easier 14ners near RD3 cabin. Only about 5 miles round trip and only 2,000 foot climb in elevation.

Hiking at Mount Sherman - 9700 4 Mile Creek Rd, Fairplay, CO Easiest 14er located 6.8 miles east by south of the City of Leadville. You’ll start at 12,000 ft so it's only 2000 ft of elevation gain. The first half of the trail is an old mining road. The rest of the trail is also fairly developed. But don't be fooled, the easiest 14er is still a demanding hike, especially if you are not acclimated to the altitude. The climb rewards you with magnificent sweeping views of Leadville and the adjoining valleys to the west, Fairplay, and South Park to the east. There's a Y part way up the mining road, marked with a cairn. You’ll want to go to the right even though the left seems to be the more "obvious" path. Several mine sites to explore.

If you are looking to climb a Colorado 14er, Mt. Sherman is an excellent option. Make sure to read up on what it takes to climb a 14er before you attempt one.
