We have a great zoo close by. And the park in general is great for relaxing, jogging, walking.
The Roger Williams Park Zoo contains more than 150 animals from around the world in natural settings. It was founded in 1872 and is one of the oldest zoos in the nation.
You can go for a picnic, a swan ride, pet barn animals, feed the elephants, rollerblade, play tennis, just walk.
A great location to take the kids, the zoo is always hosting special events to include the Jack-o-lantern spectacular, a must see in the fall.
Don't miss the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo in October.
Great zoo, and if you're visiting in the Fall, you have to check out the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

“A fascinating gem of a museum documenting many historical eras and cultures. An Egyptian mummy, an ancient and enormous Buddha statue, and galleries of works by famous artists are only a few of the unique artifacts here. You can'tget through it all in one day! Admission is free every Sunday (10 am–5 pm) and on the third Thursday evening of each month (5–9 pm).”

“If you want to celebrate, you cannot go wrong at Los Andes! This is the best restaurant in RI, and everybody knows it--so you should call for a reservation. Indoor and outdoor seating, fresh and innovative contemporary Peruvian/Bolivian inspired cuisine, excellent wine list, and live music sometimes too. You can also grab a seat at the bar to eat. ”

“On WaterFire evenings, downtown Providence is transformed by eighty-six anchored burning braziers that float just above the surface of the rivers that flow through Waterplace Park at the middle of downtown Providence. The public is invited to come and walk the riverfront and enjoy the beauty of the flickering firelight, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, and the music from around the world. ”
